Intervention Mechanism
A construction information transparency system adopted in the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, in Turkiye, in the aftermath of the 2023 earthquakes. Citizens can track the progress of reconstruction projects in real-time.
Initiative Summary
Embedded within the city’s existing infrastructure and digital tools, the system enables citizens to monitor project implementation, track where materials are sourced, understand how labour is allocated, and follow the status of each reconstruction project.
Practice Lesson
This initiative demonstrates how digital technologies and citizen monitoring can be integrated into reconstruction plans to improve transparency and reduce opportunities for corruption. It offers an important lesson on embedding transparency from the outset of reconstruction plans and how to build synergies with existing monitoring and infrastructure processes.
